April 25 marked the end of this ministry which has been running continually for over 28 years. The Neighborhood Meal started with the intention of giving the people of Schenectady a hot, sit-down meal on the last Sunday of every month. Over the years the ministry grew, often serving over 100 people each month. But times have changed, and with other community services filling the need, fewer and fewer people have been coming through our doors.
So, with a heavy heart, the kitchen crew shut off the stoves on April 25 for the last time.
Thank you to all of the many volunteers who have made the Neighborhood Meal possible month after month. We will miss seeing our friends and neighbors but our doors remain open for Sunday morning services as well as for those who have need of our food pantry.
May God bless you all!
